Welcome back everyone, we hope you all enjoyed a lovely Christmas and New Year.

Thank you to everyone who helped and contributed to the successful Craft Fayre. The proceeds of the fayre will go towards our Enterprise fund. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents/carers and extended families for supporting the children with such great enthusiasm at our Nativity concert. Proceeds will go towards our ICT fund.

We are very happy to welcome our new children and hope they have fun making new friends here at St Mary’s

Burns Day/ Special Shake ’n’ Wake

We will be celebrating Burns day on Friday 24 January. We will be having a Scottish themed Shake ‘n’ Wake on the day to which all parents/carers and families are invited.
Our cafe will be Scottish fare for the children to sample.

Registration 2014/15

Children born between 1st March 2010 and 28th February 2012 MUST register in January 2014 to qualify for nursery provision for the 2014-15 school year.

Registration week is w/c 20 January 2014.
This can be done at the Nursery - please pop in or give us a call to discuss - it is essential that registration is submitted at the appropriate time to ensure you secure your child's place

Starting in August 2014, funding provision is for 600 hours
5 sessions per week 08:30am to 11:45am
Term Time Monday to Friday
Provision is FREE from your child's 3rd birthday!

 


 

Primary School Registration

Primary one registration will take place week commencing 13 January 2014

Please refer to notice board in corridor for registration days and times for the individual schools.

Starting School

What we will be learning about in the new term

In January the children will be learning about WINTER , we will be learning about the weather, wildlife, the environment and our community. We will be exploring cold colours and science activities; we will be learning songs and nursery rhymes relating to Winter, Burns Day and Chinese new year

We will also be looking at the children’s interests, please inform staff of anything specific your child is talking about at home

Author of the Month

Mick Inkpen is our author for December. He has written many internationally acclaimed children's books including The Blue Balloon and Wibbly Pig. We know him best for his series of Kipper books. We would encourage you to read any story book to your child but this month we would like you to read a Mick Inkpen Book. If you have a favourite book or author that you would recommend please let us know.

 

Policy Reviews

The policies we are reviewing this month are in the corridor for parent/carers to review. We would be grateful if you could take time to have a look at these and leave comments or suggestions.

 


 

ECO ED’S NEWS UPDATE

Please continue to bring your old clothes, shoes, bags and curtains for our recycle bin.

Remember we recycle old batteries, glasses, milk and juice tops, paper and mobile phones. All going to well worthy causes.

 


 

Bookbug Session

A book bug session will be organised when Mrs Curran returns in February. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Bits and Bobs

Could all parents/carers ensure that all clothes and shoes have your child’s name inside. Thank you.

Library books—if any books are lost or damaged please advise Mrs Nisbet. This is to allow us to replace books. Thank You

If you have any worries or anxieties about your child, please feel free to speak with your child’s Key Worker or Janet.

Remember that we have an open door policy at St Mary’s Nursery School and you can come and join us at any time.
